The Secret Refuge is a unique property located on the grounds of Portland Gate. It’s very private, surrounded by bush and gardens, and only minutes away from shopping and popular attractions and just over 2hrs from Sydney.
There are mountain views from the living room and entertaining areas, as the gardens display vibrant seasonal colour changes. Visitors are welcome to stroll around the main gardens, natural bushland or the pine forests or perhaps enjoy a picnic. Some of the trees on the property include eucalypts, wattle, pine trees, ornamentals and flowering plums, cherries and apples.
Kangaroos, wallabies and wombats are common, and native birds can be seen feeding close to the house. The property was a wildlife refuge many years ago and native animals still visit and we respect and provide them space.

| The house is brand new, and has a 2 car garage, 3 double sized bedrooms and generous areas for groups and families to enjoy. There’s plenty of room around the fire pit and BBQ out the front, or inside around another wood fire. The house also has reverse cycle air-conditioning in the living room. The dining table seats eight and the kitchen and laundry are fully equipped. There is a large three way bathroom with an ensuite in the Master Bedroom.
A brick feature room has an extra sofa bed with a TV and DVD Player. Free WiFi is available and so are board games, books and DVD’s for everyone to enjoy. There’s also plenty of room outside for the kids to run around and wear themselves out riding their bikes. Plenty of time to sit by the cosy indoor fire or outside around the fire pit to spot shooting stars and constellations. Plenty of opportunities for families and groups to catch up on life in a peaceful and hidden accommodation. The property is ideal for small private weddings which can be coordinated with the owners. |
